Community learning and the future of education have been on my mind lately. Classmates, you will see why when Fleur and I present our project tomorrow. While working on the project I was trying to think of all the cool community-based education or youth media projects I could, and I remembered
Say it Loud! Say it Proud!, a project that took place in Montreal during 2009-2010 school year. The project was administered by the Black Community Resource Centre in partnership with two Montreal high schools. Students learned about video production, conducting interviews, and creating a music video. Unfortunately it looks like the funding wasn't sustainable, which I think is probably a common (and frustrating) situation for this type of program.
It's worth checking out the website to view the videos the students created. The 'Local Musicians' interviews are with two awesome Montreal hip hop artists, Nantali Indongo,AKA IamBlackGirl and Nomadic Massive member, and the Narcicyst. Also, check out the music video participants made, which I have linked below in an attempt to encourage you to watch it. It's AWESOME and inspiring.

This is awesome. This is kind of along the lines of my media intervention....except these videos on here are WAY better. Thank you for posting. You've inspired me in my project.
